I have a big fat lazy cat whose idea of exercise is: "You dangle the string over me and I'll lie on my back and swat at it if it's close enough. For some reason he will actually bat these around and chase them. They are so simple and inexpensive compared to other toys I've bought him (which he ignores.) My only complaint is that he will only play with the ones that have the cut out stars and comets and the pack comes with the ball with the slits, which is usless for me.

I have a little pomeranian and she loves to take one of these balls and toss it up in the air and knock it around and chase after it. I had only one ball like this and she eventually cracked it.
