they looked the same as the ones you get at a pet store, but Georgie was able to totally destroy them in 5 minutes. They smell very strongly to plastics and he was able to destroy the core. The regular pet store item he will chew off the yellow coating but he cannot break the core. They don't smell. They smell so strong that I had to bathe him to get rid of smell off of him. And they are only a buck or so cheaper.
This looks just like the picture on the box, but that picture is so small that details are difficult to see. There is a flat rubber ring (grey) to keep the toy from moving, and inside that a white plastic rim. Inside the rim rests the scratching pad. It is blue and made out of dense cardboard, in many layers. There are holes in the card that my cats love! This appeals to them greatly, and the cardboard seems to be impressively sturdy. The toy comes with some catnip to help teach your cats to like it, and they also suggest hiding small treats in the holds. I did that, and it helped more than the catnip -my cats love the hidden treats. Both of my cats use it for scratching naturally, and the older cat also loves to sleep on it.

This seems like a good idea but my cat ignored it after the first day mainly because the cardboard part pulls out of the plastic shell too easily. She could hook it and pull it free on her second try. Not much of a scratching pad. I tried repositioning the pad and even wrapping some tape around it to make it fit in the frame more snugly but she could still pull it free. In addition, the cardboard is easily pried apart so she can actually remove pieces of the layers and possibly choke on them. I have 4 older cats and they all use it, even the declawed one. I suggest clipping your cats' claws and then introducing this scratcher. It has maintained the short length and even rounded the tips of their claws. I have not had to go back and clip their claws since they started using it. They do not scratch the furniture anymore. I have never had it tip over and one of my cats is over 15 pounds. The toy is cheap and broke off of the base within minutes, similar to other users. I know that a lot of people have given this product bad reviews, so I was really hesitant about buying. However, the idea of not having to tackle my 17 pound cat down to trim his nails was way too tempting. I have a very large cat (17 lbs) and a small cat (6 lbs). The second that I put this scratching board on the ground, my big cat started scratching. He LOVES it. It hasn't tipped over, or even really moved while he is using it. My smaller cat really loves the little toy that comes with it, which is soft and has a bell. She will bat at the toy but hasn't really scratched much. However, her lack of interest may only be that the larger cat has claimed this as his toy.

We rescue cats and thus have become somewhat knowledgeable on cat toy preferences. Basically they are as diverse as humans, just don't respond well to advertisements and how much it costs, nor do they worry about what the cats next door have. Our kitten Henry was really the first to notice "mr squirrel" even though we had the squirrel toy for a year before we had Henry, as well as several other Dr. Noys toys like this for cats. Henry carries Mr.S all over the house. The funny thing is he and our beagle boy play with it, its like a game as to who has the squirrel. Sadly the original Mr. S went to the great kitty toy heaven when after 5 months of this game the beagle finally figured out the right way to tear him open. But in true fashion we had a spare on hand as we were terrified something may happen to Mr. S and kill their game.

I bought this based on the somewhat misleading statement that it was made with "natural" fur...I have no idea what that actually means, because the covering is most definitely not natural or real. Well, it's Christmas time again and a time for gifts. My wife got our two cats a present of Spot Rainbow Mice, a catnip-containing cat toy. They were nine colorful little mice with brightly colored bodies and several varieties of tails. We brought them home in a tied plastic grocery bag and left the bag in the kitchen. The next morning, we found the bag torn open and the container with the cat toys gone. I didn't think much about it until I found one of the cats frantically trying to get something out from under the couch. Upon looking, I found a colorful little mouse. Later, I found the package from where it had originated. The plastic had been chewed open, one of the mice extracted and two more partially extracted. Took my cats a while to warm up to this. They finally did and love sitting on it in front of the sliding glass door to get a higher position to scout the squirrel activity outside. The sides at the top have come undone so I'll have to glue them back. The love the PetFusion Cat Scratcher Lounge I got on Amazon but only one can use it at a time. Now I have 2 prime spots. My cat is really lazy and hates playing with toys. I have spent a lot of wasted money on cat toys for her to no avail, until this toy. It is the ONLY toy she will play with, and she never gets tired of playing with it! If my cat likes it, so will most cats, I'm sure.
Of course the cats love this toy and so did I. It's a very sturdy wand which I like because the other wand toys are flimsy and break with too much pressure. It has a good quality cord that slides easily through the wand. The little ball on the end is fun to roll around and watch the cats go crazy over and it keeps the cord from being pulled through. I have two kittens and it's cute to watch one pulling on the ball while the other pulls on the feather! The green feather toy left little green fuzzies everywhere but it's nothing the vacuum can't take care of. The feather toy lasted A LOT longer than I thought it would. Normally the boy has these things torn up in the same night but it lasted about two weeks even after using it almost every day. He did have the strings at the bottom of the feather torn off after two days. I wish we could order a replacement feather toy because there's a chain with a clip that keeps this toy attached to the string and I imagine you could unclip it to either replace or add new feathers. Overall, good toy but giving it 4 stars due to how fast the colored strings and feathers could be torn up.
This is my cat's favorite toy...but I would not recommend getting it for your cat if he/she tears into them like mine does. My cat loves these so much he bites and destroys them but unfortunately he ate a piece of one, and $3500 in vet bills later, he's slowly recovering from the surgery to remove it. If your cat is the type that will bite this toy, take it away!

I have three male cats that are too large to comfortably use most cardboard scratchers, but they love these. There's also something about the texture of the material that they seem to prefer over ordinary cardboard scratchers, and this one seems more durable. A little more pricey, but worth it if they USE it.

I used to get fur strips for my cats from PetsMart, but they stopped carrying real fur toys and I've had a hard time finding anywhere that doesmy cats won't touch the polyester ones. When I got these, my cats played with them for a few minutes, but haven't played with them much since then. I guess they're not real fur, since the package says they're "Made lightweight with extra fluffy, furry texture." They feel a lot like the real thing to me, but apparently my cats don't agree.

I bought two of these balls at the animal defense league. Three of my four cats went bonkers. Alistair will even play fetch with them. I toss them up and he jumps to try to catch them. He will carry two in his mouth at once because he gets so excited about fetching them. When I ordered the 24 and dumped them on the floor he went nuts. The other two like playing with them also but they tend to just throw them with their mouths or paws and then try to catch them. I hate rating this so low because it may work for some, but I have tried these on four cats and none of them cared. They were only interesting when I put catnip on them. most of the time they've been shoved against the wall and forgotten, even when I try to bring them out to play. I ended up taking them to the Humane Society. If it brings joy to at least one cat's life I'll be happy.
My cats are nearly 5 years old and this has always been their favorite toy. One kitty learned right off the bat how to play fetch with this and could keep it up for hours. From watching intently, the brother learned to fetch too and I've been using this toy to give my fur babies exercise and fun for years. Only complaint is that they can chew off the rounded tips and you have to replace them. They've never swallowed the piece buy if you have an overactive chewer...keep an eye out.
It's a fun game to get the balls out of the balls. The puppies play with this one all day long. Well worth the money. Just got it so not sure how it will hold up, but it looks well constructed and the material is super soft for young ones.
I got this toy for my cat when he was still a fairly small kitten, thinking it would be an inexpensive and fun toy. The dangling ball was the only part he played with at first, and that piece broke off fairly quickly. The bottom piece is extremely thin and wouldn't stand up to any amount of vigorous scratching. My cat would bat at the ball in the PVC pipe a bit, but mostly ignored the whole thing. Once he grew up, it was far too small to be any kind of play center.
It surprised me when I received the scratching post last week! It was much bigger and stronger than I thought it would be! My cats loved it, and it does not move at all when they are stretching their legs and scratching the post.

I bought this thinking I would need to do some revisions to make everything work based on the other review. I received the package is good shape, the parts went together easily and everything was drilled well. I did add two washers for a place where the ladder connects to the box. My kitty decided this was hers the moment I started to assemble it and wouldn't get out of the hammock the whole time. The only thing that was not impressive is the quality of carpet that was used, but I can deal with that and plan to recover it once it wears out. This is SUCH A DEAL for the price! I bought one half the size for more money.
