My cat used it after I showed her that's what it was for. She used it every day, several times a day. The girls did incorporate the feather toy into their hunting routine on occasion when things got really out of control. However, after a few months the sisal rope came undone and I had to throw this away.

You get what you pay for. I would recommend investing a little more money into a larger and more durable scratching post.

This would be great for kittens, like a starter scratching post. It's small, works well, and is affordable. It just doesn't last long.

Our cat Louis has loved scratching on this post. He's a big cat. Since we got it he has scratched far less frequently on our stereo speakers. However, after three months or so, he has broken the rope. I was hoping for something more durable. I don't know if you can get a replacement post. (The base is fine.) I've also thought about getting thicker rope from a hardware store and glueing it onto the post. But I don't know whether a cat would be attracted to that kind of rope. In any case, Louis has loved the post, but it hasn't lasted as long as I would hope.

The seagrass, of course, never lasts more than a few months with this kind of treatment. But now that we've learned how to assemble the column quickly, we don't mind replacing it when needed. It's such a treat to watch Fiona hunt that feather.
