Petstages Stuffing Free Mini Squeak Chain Dog Toy

Bought this at my local grocery store last night because I've had good luck with the Petstages brand of toys and because my dog LOVES squeaky toys! Five squeakers on a rope? How fun! There were about five of these on the rack and I tested each of the squeakers to make sure I got one that worked and found that nearly every one of them had two or more squeakers that didn't 'squeak' at all when squeezed. I should have taken that as a sign of some sort, but I bought the one that had all five squeakies in somewhat working order (some of them you really have to squeeze 'just right' to get a squeak) and brought it home to my lil' guy.

Disappointed because although this toy is the perfect size for him and he can easily 'bite bite bite' down on the squeakers most of the time he can't get the squeak that he's looking for. It's just a plastic popping noise. I tested the squeakers again and they do work but it's not easy to get them to work, they have to be squeezed a certain way it takes way too much finesse.

I still gave this toy two stars because it appears sturdily made for a small dog, I think it'll have some lasting power and my dog appears to really enjoy trying to chew on the knotted ends, I think it must feel good on his gums since he's never really been a 'chewer'. He seems fascinated with it for now and satisfied enough with just using it as a tug toy and for fetch (but he's got tons of those toys already). Just bummed out that he can't get it to squeak, except by chance, since that's what he likes most about his other toys. Oh well. They can't all be winners.

Just like the other reviewers, it makes me sad that this toy comes apart so quickly. I have to watch my dogs carefully when they play with it to make sure they don't swallow any squeakers. However, they LOVE THIS TOY! I have two Chihuahuas that love to play tug of war and this is their very favorite toy in the world. It's just the right size for their little mouths and they can really get in there and shake it around. I tried making my own version out of fleece and then out of rope, but neither would do. So, now I watch for the squeakers to come out. Then I let them play with it to their hearts' content. After a while it gets ripped to shreds, but they are still able to tug from end to end. It cracks me up that they still enjoy it just as much. Go figure.

Pet Stages was a product I purchased when my dog was a puppy. However certain products became favorites and needed replacement. The "celebrate" balloons were one such item. They have an entire line of colorful toys and chews that make sounds your pet will LOVE. The price is reasonable. I highly recommend their line.
