Okay, I read the dimensions, but was still taken aback when it arrived. LOLIt should certainly last a year or more but mainly because it's so large. I don't think it's constructed THAT much better than any other cardboard scratchers I have purchased; again, just a lot larger. I had to secure it to a table leg with string to keep it from falling over when the cats are playing on top of it, otherwise, it is too unstable and scared them if it wobbled or fell. They do play and scratch on it some but not as much as I had hoped they would, considering the price.
