I bought one of these a year or so ago for my two cats. At first, neither was interested, especially since the coil has a tendency to fall flat and the tunnel becomes a disk. This can be a problem if you have a timid cat and the tunnel collapses on kitty when investigating. But with two more fearless felines, this became great sport, as one would "hide" in the partially collapsed tunnel, while the other tries to capture the wriggling, crinkling, alien creature. Scratching against this material produces a sound my cats find hard to resist.Despite the flimsy coil, the fabric is pretty darn tough. My two long clawed cats have had all out tusslings on both sides of the tunnel, and it has yet to rip, tear, or puncture.
The manufacturer states that the tunnel is machine washable. You'll find if you have a long-haired cat prone to shedding that the coil will collect hair rapidly, and a machine wash will not get all the hair out. Hand-cleaning helps some. It held up to the washing on the normal cycle though, and the colors didn't bleed into one another (or other items!) on cold.
