You need to soak this in hot water every time before you use it to soften it up a bit. Otherwise, it is so rough and unforgiving that it could take the hide off a rhino-cerous. I appreciate what the 'designers' said about taking this material from the 'heart' of the loofah so it will be tougher and last longer...and I believe they definitely succeeded in that! I like the colors...the dark one is actually a really dark green rather than the black that I expected, but that's okay...although they should SAY this in case someone else is fussy about the color. I like the interesting linked-together design. Just got it, so I'll have to see how 'tough' it is after some use. If it holds up well and doesn't take the top/surface layer off everything it touches, I will buy this product again.
