My parakeet had super long nails so I got him a pedi-perch that's basically just a rough perch but that didn't work at all, so I finally got this and within a week his nails were trimmed. It hasn't been hurting his feet either because he's not on it all the time since he has other perches. Not the best quality in the world, but for the price it's not bad at all.

I have purchased a number of these sand perches because I have always used these. Unfortunately I have discovered that these are just plastic perches with some king of grit glued on certainly not the original product. Do not buy these as they are not good for your birds no better than those cardboard gritty things. I dis use some wet sandpaper to bring down the sharpness a bit because I did not want to damage the underside of the bird's feet.

These perches are great for small birds. You can put them any wheres in the cage because they screw to the bars.
