I bought this toy on my way to the shelter to pick up my dog after her medical treatment, and she had it by her side from the moment she came home until we finally had to retire RopeMonkey. She chewed him, played tug-of-war, flung him around, and pretty much tried to destroy him for a year. She finally ripped open the seams, otherwise he held up really well. We ran him through the washing machine a few times, and he always came out fine. We're buying another RopeMonkey, and I know my dog will be happy when she finds him again!

Disclaimer: I have a very aggressive tearer. My border terrier that loves to take any stuffed toy and tear it open. He holds the toy down with his paws and begins pulling on it with his teeth.

When I received this product, I was hopeful it feels very sturdy and well made. So I left it with my 10 month old pup and within a few hours, he had it completely torn open, stuffing and squeaker out and flung all over the floor.

If you are looking for a stuffed toy that holds up to a dog that likes to bite and tear stuffed toys, I would keep looking (and let me know if you find one!)

So I got this a long time ago, and just now reviewing it. My siberian husky was about 1 1/2 years old, hes little over 2 now. He annihilated this toy in the first 3 days he had it, the monkey part was destroyed and all stuffing and guts out, the only thing that lasted was the roped arms and legs. But even then after a week those were shredded. I don't recommend this for strong chewers. My husky not only gets hard hard toys and or the stronger knotted ropes. lol.

I bought this as my new dogs first toy. He's a mix of some sort and only 50 pounds, but shredded it immediately. The product still gets a positive review though because its a great idea for a toy; it has the rope legs for pulling, but the soft monkey-body to keep a dogs interest better than just the rope alone. The fault is my own, for just getting the wrong type of toys for a dog whose mission is to set records for time it takes to demolish a fuzzy toy.

My dogs are obcessed with this monkey. If I squeak it while in a different room they apear faster than you can blink. That's fairly amazing considering one is 11 years old and the other is a lazy basset hound.

The ropes are nice and study and can take a lot of abuse. However, the monkey itself lasted a whole ten minutes. My Basset Hound nearly ripped his head clean off. I now have to sew it back on.

If the monkey was a nice rip resistant material this would be a five star product. Maybe if you had a small dog it would be ok but a M/L dog will blow through this in a few minutes.
