Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food, Wetlands Canine Formula with Roasted Wild Fowl, 15-Pound Bag

This is a high-quality food, but I think it's best for young, active dogs. I bought it for my 11 year old mixed breed because he needs grain-free food for his itching. It worked for that, and he loved the taste. However, he's had some problems recently, and blood tests showed liver inflammation, as well as elevated cholesterol and very high triglycerides. NONE of the problems were caused by TOTW, but it's extremely high in fat and protein, so it's exactly wrong as a maintenance diet for a dog like him. Many older dogs have similar problems, so unless your older dog has had recent, comprehensive blood-testing, you may not want to put him/her on such a rich food. My dog is improving on a low fat, moderate protein diet. If I had a young dog getting plenty of exercise, a food with a minimum of 18% fat and 32% protein would probably be just fine.

I tried Taste of the Wild about a year and a half ago. We didn't give it a chance, though. We defaulted back to Acanna. Champion Dog Foods are a great brand, but I am concerned about the availability of their products.

So back to Taste of the Wild. I ordered this from Amazon just to test out the shipping experience. It blends in well with Acanna and doesn't upset my dog's stomach.

Now. The quality of this food is top notch. All one needs to do is a simple search and you'll see. This is great stuff. The quality is up there with Champion (Acanna and Orijen)

The only complaint I have is that the bag was ripped on arrival. Meh. No Harm No Foul I suppose. But that is Amazon/UPS fault not the product.

Well, this was a disappointment. I bought this food wanting good quality food for

my dogs, but they will not eat it.

The dogs have been miserably scratching, we've been doing a number of things to try to get to the bottom of it. This is one of the things we're trying. The dogs love it. They had begun to refuse to eat their last dry food and they seem delighted with this all meat formula. We've used it before and despite the cost we're back to it again. Vet bills cost more than good food.
