I bought this on a whim on a recent trip to buy cat food. SO glad I did, because it is keeping our Mensa kitty entertained and out of trouble!!

To elaborate -we have a 1yr old neutered male who is spookily intelligent. He taught himself to play fetch (one of his favorite games), he opens cabinets and drawers, he leaps at door handles attempting to open them (and if we had lever-style door knobs or if he had opposable thumbs, he'd be getting them open too), he gets into my stash of hair pins and ties and costs me a small fortune using them as toys and losing them. You can see him thinking and figuring things out. If he gets a hold of a tissue box, he pulls out all the tissues and shreds them. And you should have seen the mess when he discovered a brand-new 12-pack of toilet paper!

In any case, he bores of toys easily and quickly, and then starts making trouble and driving me insane trying to keep him from destroying the house. I try to keep a cycle of toys in rotation so he doesn't get bored, but it's a challenge finding something he likes to begin with.

This Tweet Thing toy, he just can't get enough of. Granted the feathers were pulled off and strewn about the house within an hour. But it has a little felt "tail" (it looks like a green apple in the product photo), which he finds just as amusing. Apart from the feathers, the toy is sturdily constructed, and I expect it will last a good long time (though the "tweeting" mechanism will probably wear out before the rest of it does).

The ball is weighted at the bottom, so it rolls around erratically and wildly, which the kitty loves. It "tweets" when it is moved (sounds like a bird chirping). The ball itself is about 1" in diameter, and the felt tail is ~2" long. But it is still soft and light-weight.

My one minor "Con" is the tweeting sound. It's not very annoying as far as pet toys go -I've heard way worse and more annoying sound effects. But it does get old after an hour or so of near-constant play. After 30min my husband joked that I had traded one insanity for another lol. But the tweeting is one of the major things about this toy that stimulates the Mensa cat, so I put up with it. He bops it, it tweets, and he goes nuts. I'd swear I could hear him laughing.

At least for our 1.5 yr old catthis toy is an all time fav! She grabs the green apple top and throws it up in the air over and over-she kicks & bats it -she carries it like a kitten from room to room. She easily entertains herself! With the extreme play it endures, I expect to have to replace it oftenand I do. After the first month it starts to loose feathers and the chirp starts to lessen, month 2 most feathers are gone and it no longer chirps due to daily active play, by month 3 its completely bald, mute and the "tail" is spindly time to replace. She loves it so much I only have to walk into the room with it and she dances around me, like a dog, to get it. We have gone through 1 every 10-12 weeks over the past year. She has not gotten bored yet. Now when she sees the new one come home, she will grab the toy, still attached to the cardshe can't wait to play with it! OVERALL $10 every few months is nothing compared to the joy it brings her AND us by watching her with this toy!

This is a very cute cat toy...the tweeting is very entertaining to feline friends. However, my cat likes to dismantle toys to find out what makes them "tweet". He was able to eat most of it within a couple hours...including the rubber insert.

The product I received when I purchased through Amazon does not stand upright and does not wobble when I have batted it to show them it is a play toy. The wobble-weight under the material that causes it to wobble was not centered before it was sewn up, so the toy is always in a position where it is tipped over with the plume flat against the floor. It has more or less made this a feather toy that is too heavy for them to really play with, since it doesn't wobble. It is also too heavy and awkward for them to carry in their mouths which they like to do with their toys as well. I have played with it more than they have, trying to get the thing to stand upright and wobble properly so we can all enjoy it.

They do perk up when they hear the bird chirping sound but the bird song really is more of a song or a back-and-forth slide whistle type of sound than chittering and chirping that would normally get my cats crazed.

These two have a ton of toys and they play with them all except for this one. One of my cats can't get enough of feather toys but has no interest in this one. The other; I wasn't expecting her to show interest and that has held true. For my feather-loving cat to not have an interest in this one even if it is not working as intended is surprising and the product disappointing.
