I've always heard of how you can play with a cat with a laser pointer so I spotted a Loco Laser Cat Toy in a pet shop and I bought it. Well, the cats just go wild over the dancing light I put in their pathway. It's hilarious! And it takes a long time to tire them out!

Well, I give a lot of talks and use PowerPoint presentations. As such I like to have a laser pointer along to point out details on my diagrams and photos. One night I couldn't find my laser pointer. Somewhat distressed, I finally just grabbed my cats' laser toy and went off to the talk. I joked to the audience when I first used it, and they knowingly laughed back. But, you know, this cat toy worked better than any laser pointer I've had up to this time and it was just a fraction of the cost. The dot was wider and brighter and everyone could easily see it. Now, whenever I head off to a talk, the cats' laser toy goes into my pocket.

My cats LOVE chasing that little red dot! They always have. The first laser pointers I used to play with them were standard laser pointers designed for office presentations. As such, those pointers weren't really designed for you to hold the "on button" down for five or more minutes at a time. My hands and fingers used to get exhausted far faster than my cats would, and play time was always limited by my hand strength rather than their interest.

The Loco Laser is soooo much easier to use for prolonged play that I really, truly own about a half dozen of these (granted, I tend to misplace them as well). The "mouse" has a slight curve to its pudgy body, so it rests really easily in your hand. The on button is on the top of the mouse's head, and pushes down pretty easily, though not so effortlessly that it would turn on while being stowed. Like another reviewer, I agree that it'd be great to have a pointer with a switch to stay on during play, but I've never seen one like that. My parents, who are aging and struggle with arthritic pain, both find the Loco Laser easier to use with the cats than other toys.

As far as quality, I've had no problems whatsoever. The package includes spare batteries, which is a bonus, and though a small Phillips head screwdriver is required to access the inside, it's an easy procedure. I believe the batteries are also a standard size, so future replacement shouldn't be too much of a hassle either. When I started buying Loco Lasers they were between 1/2 and 2/3 the cost of other, traditionally shaped laser toys (at the time of this review, they still are). Given the perks (Ergonomic design! Extra batteries!) and the affordable price, I would very highly recommend these to any cat owner.

This is a mouse shaped, laser pointer. The mouse has a slight curve on its underside which makes it easier to hold. There's no gimmicks; you hold down the button, move the laser around and your cat will probably have fun chasing it. You can pulsate the laser by quickly pushing the button on and off. Before, we used either a flashlight or a prism. This is nicer because the beam is more focused. Our 17 year old cats love it and get some exercise too.

I was very surprised to find a set of batteries in the mouse & an extra set in the package.

This is the first laser toy I've gotten for my cat. He really likes it, but I feel a bit bad as there's never anything he can catch, and so he gets tired of it after 15min or so of play, but that's a complaint about lasers in general. This toy is great in that it has a nice strong beam and comes with extra batteries. My only dislike about the design is that your thumb gets tired from holding down the button. I think if I were to buy another laser I'd look for one with a switch instead of a button.

Cats love this toy all if mine love playing with it and they don't tired of it easily. The best part is, I don't have to do much to get them running. I can play with them from where ever I'm sitting, which sounds lazy, but is actually really helpful when I'm trying to get some work or studying done, and my little kittens just keep trying to step on my keyboard or lay across my book. I can keep my book in one hand and the laser in the other, a perfect example of multitasking.
