The picture is very deceiving. The actual mat has a wide seam down the middle and is not thick like the picture shows. It actually has two mats and each COOLING mat is 8.5" x 14.25". I would not buy this item again. The reason I gave it two stars is because it does actually lightly cool, and it is the color.

IT TOOK OVER A WEEK FOR MYH DOG TO ACTUALLY LIE ON IT, SHE IS ALWAYS HOT AND IS A 6 LB YORKIE. NOW SHE IS ON IT EVERY NIGHT. I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE SHE WAS SLEEPING ON OUR HARDWOOD FLOOR TO KEEP COOL. I WANTED HER TO LAY ON SOMETHING PADDED AND COOL AND THIS DID THE TRICK. i THINK I AM HAPPIER THAN SHE IS, BUT IT IS CLOSE!
