The holes and slots are too big, a lot of the little broken clumps of litter fall right through and scatter in the pan. I think if the holes were smaller and slots much thinner, it would capture any of the smaller broken pieces when cleaning the pan.
Cats are so neat. Just give them a box with litter in it and there's no need to worry about messes around the house. All the mess is confined to the box. Of course, the box needs a cover so the littler doesn't get scattered all over, but that's easily available. Oh yes, and you have to clean the box from time to time. You're nose will tell you when it's time. For the cleaning, you'll need a scoop so that you can lift out the waste and the little clumps of litter. Well, such scoops are available in abundance and I've had quite a variety. My latest is the VoToys Cat Litter Jumbo Plastic Scoop which I found hanging as an impulse item in my local store near the pet food section. It reminded me that I'm down to my last scoop. I tested it in the store for sturdyness and flexibility in that the most common problem with these scoopers is that they break. It came out all right and should work well.
