One thing I looked for was a tree that was balanced, as most cats like to leap onto and off of it. Tipping over could be dangerous for them and damaging to my house. I'm happy to say that this one is pretty stable, even when my 18 pound older cat tromps up to his cave and defends his keep (okay too much Game of Thrones, but that's what it looks like). It wobbles a bit on exit and entrance, but never has caused a fall or even remotely came close to tipping.
Overall the carpeting is pretty thin but there is no damage after 6 months of use. The sisal uprights are a good idea, as I think they are more durable than carpeting would be. That is where they scratch anyways.
My boyfriend put this together and while he was not impressed with the quality of the components, they went together well, except for the ramp, which he said did no match up to the hardware and the angle was wrong. so we never assembled that to the side of the tree. He has gone back twice and tightened up the connections, but now it seems pretty solid.
The cat toys that hang from the levels, are quickly yanked off by an overzealous Abyssinian (we clocked him at 2 minutes once), however they are easy to reattach and replacements can be purchased. We have already gotten a second set. The connecting rings that they attached to are solidly fastened.
All and all, we got what we paid for and I'm pleased with the tree for the price.

I could not believe the price, I thought it had to be small or not as well built for the price I paid. Boy was I wrong! We bought this a few months ago and its very sturdy, even with 3 cats running up the sides or jumping on it at the same time! I love this cat condo and would totally buy it again. I am 100% sure my cats love it as much if not more than I do! I do have to admit, I have yet to see one of my cats use the ramp/scratching pad, they prefer the roped supports. I even think my female cat has lost weight from playing on this! A great buy!Read Best Reviews of Petco Premium Tree Highrise for Cats, 26.7" L X 30.7" W X 65.5" H Here
Package arrived earlier than expected! Assembling the cat tree was fairly simple, even though the diagram is a little confusing. Before purchasing this cat tree, I had been researching cat trees for a while trying to find one that I believed would be sturdy enough for my rambunctious cats, and would be sturdy enough to handle rough play. I think the quality of this cat tree is well worth the price, and both of my cats love it! I would definitely recommend purchasing this to another cat owner! Another bonus is you can always disassemble it to transport as well!Want Petco Premium Tree Highrise for Cats, 26.7" L X 30.7" W X 65.5" H Discount?
Very heavy so probably little chance it will tip over. I the round posts are cardboard inside, but seem sturdy. I thought it would be covered by carpet, but it's a cheap fake fur fabric type material. That's the reason for the lower rating.
