I have to say that I really wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this toy for my kitten. When I opened it up, I really thought that it kind of looked like another toy that I was going to throw away, but I was very surprised to see how much fun my kitten had with it. I was also surprised at how long he played with it. For the price, you can't lose with this item.
The toy I received does not look anything like the picture above. It is a cheap plastic version with these long tassles on the flat part of the mouse. The pom pom also has a bell on it. It's a fine toy, but I'm not sure I'm going to keep it since it's not what I ordered and I don't think my cat will use it.

I had it out for a couple of months before I got my cat to use it. My cat use to use my area rug to scratch but after a little training of stopping her and putting her on the scratch mountain, she now only uses it. It's a good product because it allows her to do that cat stretching thing while scratching it, which has saved my rug. She's played with the ball toy underneath only a couple of times but since the carpet scratch feature is the main thing, it works for me . . . and apparently her. My first one lasted 5 years of daily active scratching and was hard to find in all pet stores so I'm glad Amazon has it. (I've seen the same Omega Paws product with cardboard instead of carpet but don't believe that would work as well as the carpeted one
