While dog biscuits don't last 5 minutes in this ball with my sheltie, this ball will keep my little boy busy for over half an hour when I fill it with mashed banana or other fruit, yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, or his "real meals", ground meat with veggies, and then freeze it (makes him work harder for the goodies inside). I then place it either on our enclosed concrete patio that I can hose off, or in his doggie "playpen" out on the lawn, and my little guy goes nuts for it. Excellent mental stimulation, and much better than him just snarfing up his food in 20 seconds from his food bowl. We've had this over a year and a half, with no signs of wear. AND, it cleans up in the dishwasher! Highly recommended. So far, Kong has been the only long lasting toy for my 8 month old pit bull. Everything else is torn to shreds. This kong ball is great for fetch, or for him to just sit and chew on. There are too many holds in the ball that make it really easy for a treat to be eaten, and on top of that there is an extra large space that allows the treats to just fall out rather quickly.
Even though this ball is meant to hold treats as its main selling point, i would recommend using it as just a strong ball that your dog can play with and not destroy quickly.

I bought this Kong Biscuit Ball about two weeks ago for my newly-adopted German Shepherd Dog. My oberservations are:1) The Kong is made from very solid and durable hard rubber.
2) The openings are large so it is easy to put in biscuits, but ordinary dog food will easily fall out.
3) My dog plays with the ball infrequently. Usually only when there are treats inside. However, I'm sure all dogs are different.
4) The Kong should last a long time even if it's constantly chewed on.

These are a big hit with my dogs. I fill them with soft dog food and freeze them overnight. I crate the dogs while I'm at work, and this gives them something to do. I like these better than the traditional KONG beehive shape because it seems like it is easier for the dogs to get the ball completely cleaned out. That means I don't have to worry about old bits of food being stuck inside and festering, even if I only wash them every couple of days. The large ball holds a little over 1/2 can of dog food, and is probably appropriate for 50 to 90 pound dog. The small ball hold about 1/4 can, and is probably appropriate for anything smaller. By "appropriate" I mean that the ball is big enough for the dog to get its tongue into, but small enough to still be a bit of a challenge.
Also, and this is probably obvious, but make sure you get the "ground" dog food, not the stuff with chunks and juice. This ball is the typical Kong tough rubber, which is great. My dog has been chewing on it quite a bit and it hasn't ripped or torn yet. However, there are four bone-shaped holes in the ball, and one of them is significantly larger than the others. Every treat I've put inside the ball comes out of that hole almost instantly. I was hoping this would be more like the Kong, where I could put a treat in it and keep my dog entertained for a while trying to get it out, but that's not the case. Still an ok purchase though for a tough ball that he can chew and not destroy.
