KONG RUBBER FLYER RED

KONG Flyer Dog Toy, Large, RedI have a 80 pound lab mix dog who loves nothing more than chasing a frisbee in our backyard. The problem is, while bringing it back he chomps on it so hard that he either cracks the harder plastic frisbees or his teeth just pierce right through the softer plastic ones. This Kong frisbee is different, though. It's made of rubber instead of plastic, so it squishes rather than cracks when the force of his teeth is applied. Of course, this also makes it much easier on his teeth, but I worried about whether it would last. I bought it, though, since it was not much more expensive than the plastic ones I knew he'd destory.

After a half-hour of playing there was no visible wear on the frisbee, so I left it out in the yard. It's been out there for over 2 weeks now and we've played with it every day. There are a few (seriously) tiny tears in it -nothing I'm too concerned about. If and when this frisbee wears out I'll definitely buy another one!

My Aussie has used every kind of frisbee out there, and this is the only one that can keepp up with her play-style and schedule. The rubber keeps her from accidentally biting her tongue, and never gets sharp edges to cause any othe oral bleeding. It has great weight and flies well even in high winds.

Flying disks are thin, and as such No-one will ever make an indestructible dog frisbee-that's just the nature of a frisbee. Having said this the Kong flyer outlasts other disks ten to one.

Prows:

* Very durable should last much longer than any other disk

* The soft rubber won't cut your dogs mouth when caught (especially important for smaller dogs or dogs just learning to catch disks)

Cons:

* It's floppy, and doesn't fly the same as a rigid disk (they still fly quite well especially with a little practice)

* A bit more spendy (When considering the average life-span of other dog frisbees the few extra bucks is well worth it.)

My 7 month old German Short-haired Pointer was able to completely destroy this fribee in 4 minutes. I'm not talking about some little tears and chew marks, i'm talking about completely shredded. My dog is not an overly aggressive chewer. This dog toy is garbage. Save your money.

My dog, a Samoyed, really loves to chase discs and then bring them back. However, in the process he loves to chew. If we get at typical plastic Frisbee, he will destroy it within 2 to 4 20 minute sessions. The plastic ones have even then cut his tongue with their edges.

So, if you dog loves to chew, I highly recommend the Kong toy they last for many weeks of tough play with our dog.

A couple of other notes:

1. It is a lot harder to throw and catch because it is heavier than cloth or plastic discs

2. Don't let it become a chew toy when you are not throwing it. In that case it will not last. I only let my dog munch on it while he is bringing it back to me.
