I discovered these sand perches are just plastic with some kind of grit stuck on. I had to buff down because grit was to sharp for my birds feet in doing so that is how I made this discovery. Unfortunately I bought a number of these thinking that they were in fact sand perches.

My cockatiel is very picky about everything but he loved these new sand perches. I'm very pleased as well because his nails don't scratch me anymore. :)

From my Parakeet and Cockatiel to my African Grey, they all love these perches. These use these types of perches much more than the wood ones. Although, the parrot has varied wood branches, ropes, and other things, but will use these while out of the cage on other cages and stands.

My bird "Tiffany"* tweeted me that this is his (her?) favorite perch, even favors it over read wood branches.

*She enjoys hanging upside-down from the top of the cage, hence the name "Tiffany" ; )

These are a great product. I use them in all my cages. I have finches, canary,and parakeet. They all readily use the perches. I keep one at waterers, baths, and normal perching. Easy to put up and helps keep nails trimmed off.
