Once I opened the package with the Mini Nut Knot I was shocked. It was my fault for not reading the description but the ball was $6.66 for something so so small. I won't buy it again because of the price and size. It really is 2.5 inches x 2.5 inches. I gave the product 4 stars because they it is exactly what they said it is.

This toy did its job, it provided a chew toy for the gerbils which they noticed immediately. Once they started to use the toy and not head butt it, they had the "prize" in about a month. A hazelnut, which had driven them crazy ever since we got it for them. My wife and I noticed they were having a problem opening the nut and feeling bad to took so long we decided to open it for them and put it in the food bowl, but when it was opened the nut was filled with mold and we had to throw it away. Later we went out and got them some treats to replace the disappointment.

I bought this item for my hamster because it said that it had a real nut inside, and I thought that would motivate my hamster to chew it, since I think he's been a little bored with his normal chews.

When the item came, it had a small wooden ball in it instead of a nut. It's also advertised on the packaging as for Dwarf hamsters, which it doesn't say in the description. This in itself didn't bother meI actually like the size of the toy for a Syrian; it fits nicely into his cage while still giving him room to run around. I originally planned to send it back and buy the larger size, but at a pet store I looked at the larger size and it didn't have a nut in it either, so I just gave this one to my hamster.

I think that he nibbled on it a tiny bit, but it's hard to be sure. About once a week I wake up and it's been moved, but there aren't any marks on it, so I think that it was just in his way.

I'm very disappointed that they changed the product without changing the description, and no small animal is likely to be interested in the new version, since there's absolutely no motive to chew it open and get the wooden ball out. It's just an overpriced chew toy in a weird shape.

When I put this in the tank with my gerbils they got very excited and spent the next few hours pulling out the little pegs until they had taken this apart. They seemed so excited that I will try to order one of these for them every few weeks. It was not something that would last since they take it apart, but they did chew on the pieces afterward.
