Good affordable sturdy gate that gets the job done.

I was a little hesitant after reading other reviews saying small animals could get through between the bars.

I have to say the spacing was closer than I expected. Our small dog can't get through the bars.

Since the description doesn't list the spacing I measured, it is 2 1/4" between the bars.

It's sturdy and tall enough to keep animals that can jump out. Installation only took a couple of minutes, and you do not need to drill holes or use the pads if putting it into a doorway.

When our daughter was born on july 3rd the heat in our upstairs bedroom was very uncomfortable for my wife. we needed something to allow us to keep the bedroom door open for airflow and to keep our 2 dogs and 2 cats out of the newborns crib etc.

i went out to petsamrt and paid $90 including the tax for this same petdoor. it worked so well i went and bought a 2nd one for the nursery room. and now i am looking at a third one to put in the cat room to keep the dogs out of the cat food and litter box. i was extremely pleased to find the gate here for $30 less and free shipping!!

the gates took 10 minutes to install and you do not need to screw into your walls to use the cups. i didnt i just set the tension against the door frames. it still allows the doors to be closed and openned for privacy when my brother and his girlfriend visited. it has been 4 weeks and not once has it slipped at all.

I just tried to install this gate this past weekend. It had a great price (at a local store), and I've used Regalo's hook-on dining chairs (with satisfaction). However, I was disappointed in this gate for a couple of reasons (noted below). I have a KidCo Center Gateway installed on the bottom of my stairs and it is truly pressure mounted no screwing/nailing involved. However, the Kidco is "short" or regular sized. I haven't tried any other brand of gate.

Cons:

*This is not a truly pressure gate as the description says. You have to put screws in your wall to install little cups on the wall. The description says how easy it is to put and take down ummmm are you going to put these screws in the wall everywhere you go? The directions say many times you have to mount these screws/cups.

*Installed without the screws/cups and pressure mounted as tight as I could (I did not need an extension)...the gate seemed flimsy for a toddler to stand there and shake/rattle it. I think the handle/locking-mechanism could be designed better to make it more solid when closed.

*The gate opening is not very wide (although I think I read that up front or in a review somewhere else)...the Kidco gate is nice and wide (although shorter)

Pros:

*The price and size

*I imagine this would be good for medium to small animals (not sure about large) I'm just guessing.

*One small extension comes with it.

I'm returning this gate I just don't feel its going to hold up and be safe enough for my toddlers (without putting holes in my wall). However, if you are getting this for animals or for some other reason where there won't be much wear and tear...or you don't mind putting holes in your wall...this gate might work for you!

The gate is tall and has worked from day one. My 95 pound chocolate lab mix was not able to climb over it or push it down, which he did that with other gates. My husband and I are very happy with the product.

I don't have a con about the gate, just a comment. This is a sturdy gate that is very obvious in my kitchen. While you can dismantle it, I would imagine it would take a minute or two to do so. That being said, this is the kind of gate I needed to keep the dog in the kitchen, so it's worth it.

This is a wonderful product!!!! We actually got it for our cats so that we could have the doors open but not have the cats all over the house. The gate is high enough that they don't want to try bothering jumping it and the bars are close enough together that they can't get through them! Plus is comes with an extension bar so if you need it for a wider door or hallway you can use it for that as well! All in all a wonderful product and I'm so glad we bought them. We might end up buying a couple more once we buy a house!
