Petco Sisal & Carpet Cat Scratch Post with Toy

My two kittens love this scratching post. My older kitten uses it the "correct" way as a scratching post with just an occasional poke at the toy on top. My younger kitten is all about the toy she attacks it with every ounce of energy she has (the toy has a bell on it making it very attractive to cats). The scratching post is large enough for both of them to use at the same time.

I do have a few warnings about the scratching post. While the toy is nicely attached with a spring and unlikely to come off (no matter how hard my kittens try) it is not all that durable. We've had the scratching post for less than a week and the youngest kitten has managed to tear a hole in the toy and the stuffing is coming out. Also, while the scratching post is large and heavy, my kittens have knocked it over more than once. Make sure it is in a secure location (the instructions suggest placing it against a wall). Finally, the carpet on the scratching post may be fun for cats to claw but it sheds everywhere. Be prepared to do lots of vacuuming if you buy this scratching post.
