My three chinchillas are pretty happy with this toy -they like to steadily nibble through the wood pieces in between eating and napping. Generally this toy lasts for about a week or so before they need another toy, which is about the average amount of time that most toys lasts with them.

The only thing with this toy is that once they've bitten through enough of it, the smaller pieces tend to get lost and they don't get a chance to chew them before the cage is cleaned. Still, it's fun to watch the little guys inspect this toy and nibble on it together.

My rabbit doesn't play with many 'toys' but this thing is now disintegrated from her play and I'm needing to purchase a new one. I couldn't get the thing to come apart but after 9 months of working on it, the last few sticks got pulled out and it fell apart. I have chronic headaches and am in my bedroom most of the time so my rabbit is under constant supervision but I trust her with this toy above all others. The wood seems safe; it has not splintered. My rabbit and I roll this toy back and forth to each other until she gets an attitude, then she throws it or slams it backs. She loves this toy. I've even caught her rolling it back and forth by herself against the wall of her hutch (she doesn't know that sound travels).

very sturdy but my chinchilla just does not like it for some reason, she is hooked on her applewood flavored twigs.
