Da Bird - Fur Fun

I have 3 cats the oldest likes the original feather, the "fat cat" likes this fur fun toy, and the youngest loves them all (but he seems to prefer the sparkly toy). This toy is the only one that gets a good reaction from my fat cat, Indy. I have been trying to find something to get her motivated to move, other than food, and this is, so far, the only toy she becomes interested in. The funny thing is, the fur toy I got is exactly the same color as Indy's fur. My brother and I joke that maybe she thinks its a part of her tail that escaped, especially after she caught it once and proceeded to wash it. My cats especially love this toy when I drag it along the floor fast as if it was a mouse. The youngest one, Loki, even once jumped off the arm of the couch and grabbed it in mid-air, then landed on his side with the fur toy between his paws. It was hilarious and impressive at the same time. I switch my Da Bird toys every few days as Loki's interest starts to fade a tiny bit. I am just very happy to have found a good toy for my fat cat, and this is definitely the most durable of the Da Bird toys, (at least it is in this house) and Loki is extremely hard on toys.

I ordered one of these assuming it was actually made to the same quality as other "Da Bird" refills I have seen. It is not.

The connector was a simple loop of thread glued to a small plastic cap. No fishing tackle connector as with better made refills. Further more, the plastic cap was not even secured to the body of the toy, but only glued to a bit of the hairs from the fur, which meant the cap was pulled off once our cat grabbed it with a claw.

Stick with better made refills that can actually stand up to a cat playing with it more than 1 time!

The toy works really well. My cat got crazy about it! Only problem was that the fur gets detached far too easily for the excitement the toy causes. I managed to play with my cat only once and I need to change refill. Maybe it's my cat, but if your cat is equally active, this is not the right toy (unless of course, you have a fortune to spend on refills).

What I received is not what is shown. This is a cheap rip-off imitation of the original fur toy that comes with Da Bird toy. It is not 6 inches long. It is a 2 1/2 inch long flat piece of fur glued to a piece of plastic covering a fishing swivel. No way is this worth $6.95! Very disappointed a seller should not show a photo for a completely different product than what they ship!

Go Cat changed the end of the fur fun toy. It used to be a blue cap with a string type loop to attached it to the end of the Da Bird Pole. The new design has the end used on the feather toys .. red with a fishing lure type eye hook.

The new design was easy to hook, but the first time my cat Jacob grabbed and pulled the other end of the eye hook pulled out of the red cap. The red cap stayed intact but the hook end dangled from the pole. I pushed it back on but it simply came out again on the next grab. My wife super glued the hook inside the cap and it is now solid.

My cat loves this toy very much and I am guessing I will purchase another one. Maybe Go Cat should include a tube of super glue or return to the original design.

January 20 Update: Dropping another star :( After a week's worth of plays, the actual fur end came out of the other side of the red cap. Again, super glue to the rescue. Now that makes both ends.
