Beaver dog toy

KONG Beaver Dog Toy, LargeWhen my corgi Sophie first got this toy, she went wild with it... months later it's still her favorite. She's tried to destuff a lot of her toys, but this one has baffled her, HAHAHAHA!!! Extremely well made. I love the way the squeakers go into separate plush and velcro-closed pouches. Sophie loves the three different textures -plush, sheepy, and whatever the tail is. And of course the squeakers. Sophie loves faux sheepskin, squeakers, and she loves to shake and worry her toys. If your dog likes any one of these things, it'll like the toy a lot. If it likes two, this toy will be a huge hit. If, like Sophie, it's nuts for all three -you'll have one very, very, very happy doggy.

The squrriel was such a cute toy for our 7 month old Lab. It lasted about 15 minutes and was in pieces. The good thing is that there was a limited amount of stuffing.

These toys are among the best plush dog toys out there, and we've tried several. I don't think any are truly "indestructible" since there's always a dog somewhere that will defy that claim, but these are well made and worth buying for the majority of dogs. Just be *sure* to buy the size that suits your dog; don't buy one too small that can be swallowed easily! Dr. Noys' toys are great in that they always include an extra squeaker in the pack, and the toy squeaker is easily replaceable in its hidden velcro pouch. (Squeakers are not indestructible; that's why they include an extra. But the advantage here is that they are very secure, and can't be eaten.) You can even buy separate packages of squeakers if your dog is tough on plush toys. Or you can remove the squeaker if it drives you crazy! ;-) In the larger sizes you can replace the squeaker with a tennis ball for active dogs.

Pay attention to the sizes listed: extra-small is really small, best for only the tiniest toy breeds or for small puppies. Medium will work for most dogs, but if your dog is a shredder, loves to destroy plush toys, only get the large sizes. If you have certain breeds, like Staffordshire terriers and bull dogs, then perhaps another toy would be a wiser choice. You know your dog.

So if you're tired of buying so-called "dog toys" that are really glorified baby toys and easily destroyed, try these. Ours have lasted for two years with hard play, only replacing the squeakers. Even better, they're usually included in the Amazon 4-for-3 promotion, so you can get one free if you buy four (smaller sizes)! That way you can test out different designs, or save one for later. Highly recommended!

I see some people have had trouble with dogs tearing apart this toy. I thought that was going to be the case for us too, but once our lab spent a couple weeks de-furring the tail (those weeks were awful, really brown fur all over the floor, constantly hearing the dog chewing on hair and having to pull it out of his mouth, etc) this toy has actually held up. It's been around for at least a month and other than the aforementioned hairless tail it's doing great. It's long and thin, so it's really satisfying for him to shake and play tug with. I'm impressed, I really thought this toy would not last once I saw how he was destroying the tail, but it's done fine. He hasn't even managed to pull off its little ears which I thought for sure would be the first thing to go.

Kong makes GREAT dog toys, they're inovative an usually made for dogs and not to appeal to humans. With few exceptions like this little guy.

I give this toy 5 stars on the adorable meter. For a Plush toy this is about as tough as you'll ever get but for those of us who own die hard hardcore aggressive chews we know already that it's only a matter of time before this little beaver ends up looking like roadkill.

Why do we do it?

My hunch is, that as much as our Bulldogs love bones and rings an hard plastic teaser balls, they simply ADORE a soft toy for tug o war, and pre meditated murder as they rip the poor thing to shreds. I do applaud Kong for at least making a soft plush toy that has SOME lastin power. For those of you with NORMAL dogs this toy should hold up rather well and offer tons of fun to yourbest friend.

This line of Kong toys in fact most all dog toys sell on Amazon for about half the cost of the big box pet stores. So it makes indulging your pooch that much more fun and affordable. Plus with a Prime membership I would say 95% of the toys ship with Free two day shipping to boot. Making the deals that much sweeter!
