This is a fabulous toy for the dog who is very sound-oriented. If your dog loves toys that make all sorts of sounds, the Loopies Sound toys are definitely a great find.Though there are a couple caveats:
If your dog only likes squeaks and finds other sounds frightening, this might not be the toy for you. The sound is a repeat of a duck quacking (almost sounds like a song, and it will get stuck in your head). This quacking goes on for about twenty or so seconds, and it's relatively loud. If the dog has a strong prey drive (especially toward birds), the toy won't last five minutes. If the dog is afraid of anything but a squeak, this will more than likely frighten.
Do NOT tug with this toy, especially if your dog has a penchant for tugging. We've had three of these (the duck, lobster, and sheep), and the lobster didn't last two minutes. It does not take much for the toy to rip. Its best use is that of tossing and fetching.
Though we've only had three of the animals, we were able to listen to the monkey (the sound would have driven our puppy insane, so we opted not to get it), and the hog (typical pig snorting noises). We would probably get more in the future if the sheep and duck last longer. We actually have put these in the empty JW balls so they have some protection from prying dog teeth. As long as the ball hits something when being thrown, the noise will still get set off.
I've given them four stars because the entertainment value is worth five, but the endurance of the toy is more like a two or three.
