KONG Squeaker Tennis Balls, Large Dog Toy, 2-Pack

KONG Squeaker Tennis Balls, Large Dog Toy, 2-PackI guess I will start with the fact that I have a German Shepherd who likes to chew on things, be it my shoes, slippers or dog toys with squeakers. Needles to say, once he gets a hold of it, it is destroyed. These Squeaker balls are GREAT! Not only does it keep him occupied, they are pretty durable for him to chew on. They are bigger than a normal tennis ball, which is good for Large Dogs. They measure roughly 3-1/4" in diameter, where the regular squeaker ball is 2-1/2" in diameter. Highly recommended toy.

If you have an avid chewer, this ball will not last long. I have to watch mine like a hawk and keep throwing it and keeping him busy with playing with it and not let him sit down and chew on it or he will destroy it in 5 minutes or less. I put the ball away when our play sessions are over. He loves this ball! It kept him running and playing for over an hour each day so far since we've gotten it and he begs for it from the drawer I put it in.

I have a German Shepherd who isn't very destructive of her toys, but she is still a GSD and most toys just can't take the abuse. I haven't ever had a squeaky toy last more than 1 hour except a different Kong toy (a large Air Dog jack). She's been squeaking this ball nonstop for 3 days now, much to the annoyance of my girlfriend, and it still squeaks!

I see the word "KONG" on a dog toy and immediately want to associate it with "indestructible". I've learned in the short time I've had my dog that this is not always the case. However, I was impressed that it took about 3 hours before my dog figured out she could start to chew off the yellow material. I do wish it were somehow possible to have a similar material that was not easily chewed off. I have an American Staffy mix and so far buying a variety of toys has prevented most of her destructible chewing. I think the balls are actually pretty great, I bought a large size knowing her mouth would be able to grab it but it would not be a leisurely chew for her. I also buy things knowing she'll chew the crud out of them; better $5.00 toys over my carpet, wood floors, couches, etc. The nice thing is having one ball for inside play and another for outside. When the inside ball is chewed up too much it'll go outside as well. One note, because the fuzz seems to come off in a stringy fashion, best to try and trim that up as the dogs chew it off. I could be a paranoid pet owner, but I did notice this when my doggie finally made her way to destroying the ball.
