Catit Style Blow Molded Scratcher, Vase

I purchased this scratcher to be a holder for my cat's wand toys. Ziva and Jasmine took to it immediately for scratching, and when we finish playing with wand toys, I can leave the wand standing inside the vase for the girls to play with on their own.

The wide flange base has prevented any tip over, even though the vase is not heavy.

If there is any downside, my cats are tall and a little higher could have been nice. As it is, the girls stretch out a lttle more to reach over to scratch, rather than up.

The speed with which it shipped was amazing. I ordered on a weekend and had it in my home on Tuesday.

I recommend this product. It is safe, effective and not unattractive, and cat pre-furred.

Under Product Features, the second bullet states (as of 6/16/2012):

"Satisfies cat's natural scratching instinct; Catnip adds extra enticement"

Under Product Description, the last sentence states:

"For extra enticement you can spray the cat scratcher with Catnip (sold separately)."

To clarify, this product DOES NOT come with catnip. However, I returned the product because of the scratching material is papery. The Product Description describes the scratching material as a "special low-shred corn-husk and sisal rope blend." I understand that the material is a blend, but it did not seem durable absolutely nothing like sisal rope scratchers I have bought before.

My two cats were not interested in the scratcher the day or two I had it sitting out of the box before I sent it back, although every cat is different. I am disappointed because there are not many attractive-looking scratchers on the market, and I do like the design of this one. I just don't think it would stand up to my cats scratching it, had they been interested.

The vase does not screw into the base very securely. Looks pretty, but the cats do not use it as much as the other scratchers I have.

It is a cool looking vase that our cats ignore to scratch the couch. We like the design, though, so we have some bamboo in it and have it in another location. The material is plastic covered in rope so don't think that this is something too fancy or exciting.
