It will be comfortable for both the cats and for us to carry when we get the correct size.
In choosing "small" size,
I read and read through reviews to try to figure out which size to order, wanting to balance versatility for carry-on transport with creature comfort. I settled on the small because "large" seemed it would be less usable on low-cost carrier flights and tighter maximum size restrictions.
*****If you have an adult cat order the Sturdibag in Large size!******
Sturdibag small is listed as 10 inches high. It would work for kittens or short dogs like a chihuahua.
Sturdibag large is listed as 12 inches high. This would be a minimum size for an adult cat as sizes sited are outside dimensions.
Sturdibag small, with its cozy memory foam pad has an internal clearance of only 8 inches meaning a creature of less than 8 inches at the shoulder blades will maybe be able to fully stand only at the center of the bag without touching the interior's top.
My smaller cat (9 lbs and 10 inches at the shoulderblades)(who loves to tunnel) ventured in with a crouched posture and promptly exited.
My larger cat (12 lbs and 11 inches at the shoulderblades)is not at all interested.
I would consider this for a one-hour max travel situation, and probably an emergency, and would be braced for denial of passage by a compassionate airline worker. It is just too claustrophobic for a grown cat.
My husband looked askance at it and said simply, " . . . looks too small to me.", and he is right.
I plan to re-purchase these in large, and sell the smalls as used.
Hopefully this review will save you the time and money I am having to spend!Light weight , practical and it looks cool !
Just back from a intercontinental vacation with a small dog.
Nothing but praise for this product.
Cleans up easily if necessary.
The better mousetrap.
