JW Pet MegaLast Ball Dog Toy

First off this is a review of JW Pet themselves and this product not any sellers on Amazon.

At first I purchased the small sized ball since my Alaskan Malamute doesn't like playing with a ball larger than a tennis ball. Unfortunately she ripped up the small sized ball(made for small dogs) up in 30 mins. I then reluctantly purchased the medium sized ball from Pet Extreme since they did not have the large ball and this ball has held up a little better than the small ball but within 30 mins she was ripping pieces off of the ball but still hadn't ripped the ball apart. Again the medium sized ball was not made for my Large dog.

After my somewhat frustration with my first two purchases of this product and inability to find the large ball in stock at the local pet stores I decided to call JW Pet. I informed the Customer Service Representative that I had purchased the small and medium sized balls for my Large dog and that I knowingly purchased smaller sizes that were not intended for a large breed dog as mine. I informed her that the small ball didn't last 30 mins before my dog shredded it and that the medium sized ball, although pieces started falling off(due to my dog biting and pulling instead of just chewing), held up better than the small ball. The CSR asked me for my name and address and informed me that they would send me the Large sized ball FREE OF CHARGE even though I felt it was my fault for knowingly buying the wrong sizes for my dog.

When the package from JW Pet arrived to my amazement there was not just one but three free balls. Two of the Large Megalast balls(different colors and styles) and one of their Large Treat sized ball. All three large balls have held up against my large dog and she loves them. She wouldn't even allow me to open the box she was jumping up on me already knowing what was in the box since they have a scent of vanilla blended into the megalast balls. My dog won't let me take it from her if she's playing with it and will sneak it out when she goes outside.

The Megalast balls are made of a somewhat soft rubber like that of the rubber bouncing ball but more durable. It does float just at or below water level but not like a tennis ball floats. The balls do have a good bounce to them and because of their shapes they can bounce eratically. Overall JW Pet Customer Service and their Megalast balls are great as long as you buy the recommended size for your dog.

The only toys I had been able to find that stood up to my 70 lb pit were the black kongs (boring and heavy!) I bought her the large JW megalast ball and it's been her favorite for months now! I'm really impressed with the quality of this toy, it's ability to stand up to a powerful, veracious chewer and my dog love, love, LOVES it!

Some of the edges of this toy are fraying, but not terribly. My puppy has been playing with it for about 7 weeks now. He loves it. It's pretty heavy duty, but not so heavy duty that he has to play with it outside. We toss it around for him in the house all the time. It also has several places that you can "hide" treats in. This ball has a very unique pattern to it, with several grooves to chew. My "puppy" is an 8-month old chocolate lab who weighs 83 pounds and loves to shred anything he can get his teeth on. He has destroyed 3 toys that claimed to be "virtually indestructible" within 10 minutes or less. So I'd say that we are very happy with this toy. It was worth the $10 or so that I paid for it. We just bought him the JW Megalast Gummi Bear too, and he loves that. It has a cool, deeper squeaking sound to it when you squeeze it, not the usual annoying high-pitched squeaks that most squeaky toys have. So far, I like the JW brand. :)

My little 20 lb terrier mix has a passion for small balls. The Air-Kong (extra-small) are his favorite, but he also likes this Megalast blue small ball. I was wary of the Megalast because he is usually not interested in rubber balls/toys (like the JW Cuz toys, which he could care less about). But he is really enjoying this Megalast rubber ball it has a nice balance of both resistance and give when he chomps on it. He will chase it down and then trot around with it in his mouth, chomping the whole time. It looks like it might be good for his teeth too.

When I received the toy, I was surprised that the shape was not what was pictured and not happy. I understood the colors may vary. After re-reading the description and looking at further pictures, it also states that there are 4 different shapes. Therefore, it was my misunderstanding that you may not get the shape pictured. Haven't had a chance to see how it works in the pool with my dogs. Fingers crossed!!
