LKellyNow that warm weather is here and my dog wants to be outside all day there is the problem of how to keep her drinking water cool. I usually fill her bowl on the porch every two hours with ice cubes and ice water. But I got to thinking there had to be a better way and so I went in search of it on the internet. I typed in "keeping dog's water cold" and what popped up was FrostyBowlz a water bowl system that does just that.
FrostyBowlz comes with a stainless steel bowl, a stainless steel plate with a non-skid surface and the FrostyCore filled with a non-toxic freezable gel that can be reused thousands of times.
You put the gel core in the freezer for a minimum of four hours (overnight is best) and then place it on the steel plate and cover it with the bowl. It keeps water cool for 8-10 hours even in 90 degree temperatures. (Don't put it in direct sun light.)
The water is really cold and Orielle has been drinking more now. I have never seen this dog drink water as much as she is now. She seems to really like her FrostyBowls.
The bowl and plate are both dishwasher safe. It can be used for travel. It can be used for food.
If you fill the plate rim with water it prevents ants from getting into the food. If you drop it on concrete unlike a ceramic bowl it won't break. And another thing I really like about it is that I am no longer stepping on her bowl and spilling water all over the place. I think I need a couple more for inside the house as well.
FrostyBowlz comes in three sizes. I bought the 14 ounce bowl which is recommended for small dogs and cats (my dog a miniature Australian Shepherd weighs 22 pounds) $20 plus $8.50 shipping. There is also a 28 ounce bowl and a 48 ounce bowl. You can also buy an extra gel core so there will always be one in the freezer ready to go. Money well spent.
