Ware Wood Bead-N-Tease Wand Cat Toy

Ware Wood Bead-N-Tease Wand Cat ToyThought this would be great for my 2 cats who love "teaser wands," however this broke literally within 30 seconds and the beads that are marble sized went all over. One cat and my dog were trying to eat the small wooden beads as I was on my knees trying to find all of them. Fortunately I got to the beads before they could have swallowed. And yes, an average sized cat and even a tiny dog could swallow these small wooden beads easily even under direct supervision.

I suppose it's a neat concept but very poorly thought out and constructed. Would return if not for the cost of return shipping and

packaging.

My newly adopted year-old cat is still kittenish, and he LOVES this toy. As I type, he has jumped up on the desk with this toy to ask me to play. We are gradually introducing him to the household, so he spends a lot of time in one room, and I wanted him to get enough exercise. This toy really helped! With clever playing, I can get it to make lots of sounds (scratching, flopping, rattling, jingling, tapping, sliding). The thick, flexible elastic string part is too short for me to worry about him biting it off to swallow it (and he has shown no interest in doing that). The wood is not painted and is smooth--quite safe. It's lightweight, flexible, and short enough for him to drag the toy around like a security blanket.

He was feral for a while, so I suspect that he loves the feather doodad at the end because it reminds him of birds (alas). Well, his bird-catching days are behind him, so I don't mind buying extra attachments to replace the feather doodad, which he chews up. He especially likes the feather doodads and the ribbon doodads. We are on his fourth Bead-n-Tease. The reason is that we play rough with it, and it can break at the point the interior wire is joined to the wooden dowel. Once he was jumping down from a cabinet, and the toy struck the corner and broke. Other times, it has come apart during vigorous yanking. Since he loves the toy, I've just bought some extras and saved the parts. I have not yet had time to try to pick or drill out the end of the wire, slip the wooden balls back on it, and glue it together to get a little more play time out of it.

I'm grateful for any toy that the cat can play with, with me or by himself, for hours.
