KONG Naturals Natural Mice Catnip Toy, Colors Vary, 2-Pack

KONG Naturals Natural Mice Catnip Toy, Colors Vary, 2-PackI was not very impressed when I first got these they sort of just looked like little clumps of fabric with a tail, not much resemblance to mice. However, our cat is ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with these, so I guess he recognizes that they are mice after all! He's been playing and playing non-stop, for a week straight now, and gets very possessive when we try to move them. So I consider these a very good purchase!

For my cat's first birthday I bought the Natural Mice along with these toys: KONG Cats with an Attitude Feather Top Carrot Catnip Toy, KONG Cats with an Attitude Squirrel Catnip Toy, and KONG Wubba Cat (Colors Vary). Unfortunately, the Wubba didn't get here in time so she'll get that later.

I unwrapped all toys, inserted catnip packets where necessary in the other toys, then threw them all into the center of the living room. After some initial confusion over the many choices available to her, she immediately went for one of the Natural Mice. She likes them because she can cart them around and flip them into the air. Both mice were played with thoroughly and the other toys were largely ignored until she managed to get the mice stuck under the couch.

If your cat likes mice and/or small toys I'm sure he or she will love these. Hope the review helped.

Edit 12/24/12: FWIW, I did purchase another set and the colors look anything but natural. My first purchase looked like the mice in the picture above. This time the mice were an ugly red and blue. I'll try to remember to update if my cat's behavior changes with these weird colors. Kong, what were you thinking?

Edit 12/29/12: As expected, these "unnatural" colors weren't a hit. Her new favorite is Skinneeez For Cats Mouse

We've experimented with tons of various fake mice, from the colorful fake looking ones to the more realistic ones, and even the ones covered in rabbit fur.

It seems most all of them come laced with catnip, but I think there must be various types of catnip because some of the toys make our cats go absoultely crazy in a NOT so good way. Then there are some that seem to have almost no affect.

But these... KONG Cat Naturals Natural Mice... these are the perfect balance for our cats!

Like one of the reviewers before me, I was not impressed when I first opened the package and threw the mice down for the cats to play. And at first, it seemed like they weren't exactly impressed either. But within an hour these became their FAVORITE toys AND without making them "crazy". Obsessed and playful with them, but not acting all wierd and flipping out like some catnips do.

Now after having them for almost 2 weeks, out of all the toys they have, they *consistently* want to play with these and we have a regular routine of "fetch" going. These things have my cats acting like dogs. They constantly bring them to us and practically beg to have us play fetch with them. The cats will continue to chase these mice up the stairs when we throw them, and bring them back down to us over and over for as long as we'll keep it up!

Awesome. Never buying any little fake mice other than these again.

Cat Kong Natural Mice with Catnip / B0018MXX5S

I think I must have picky cats they fuss a lot for attention, like they are bored, but whenever they get a new toy, they play with it obsessively for the first ten minutes and then never touch it again. It's frustrating, but I thought that maybe the quality of the toys were the problem, and I tossed down for several nice Kong toys, remember how much the puppy had liked them.

Good things first: I don't know where Kong gets their catnip, but it must be the cat kingdom's version of 'military-grade' because my cats always go nuts smelling a new Kong toy. Their noses perked up and started sniffing the air the moment I brought the Amazon box inside. These mice were received fairly well, although they seemed to like the KONG Naturals Crinkle Ball with Feathers more maybe they are more "bird cats" than "mousers", I don't know.

I was a little disappointed with these, though, and I don't want to be that person that wigs out because they got the red stapler instead of the green one, but having said that, the mice we received were not the "natural" colors featured here the ones we received were dyed bright red and blue. Now, I'm sure the cats didn't notice the difference, but I was mildly irked because when you buy something for your cat to gnaw on and it's labeled "natural", you kind of expect it to *not* come in day-glo colors dyed with who-knows-what chemicals. I'm sure they're safe, and it's not really much of a complaint, just something that people might want to be aware of. I guess I'd recommend buying these at a local store where you can get the color you feel most comfortable with.
