Nylabone Flexible Dental Bone Dog Chew Toy

Nylabone Flexible Dental Chew WolfZorro's favorite chew toy.

I buy these for Annabelle, my 8 lb Pomeranian, every Christmas. Sometimes I get her the petite, sometimes the regular size. This is the only thing she will chew on so when she's not sleeping, playing with me, or gazing out the window, she's chewing this (we call it "Blue Chewy"). I was glad to find an alternative to rawhide bones that she enjoys as she had too many close calls choking on rawhides. These last forever for her perhaps because her teeth are so tiny but if I leave them around her cousins (shelties), they get chewed to bits in a matter of minutes. For smaller dogs, these are perfect.

My dog has super powers or this is not a very sturdy product. I don't have rotts or dobies or pittbulls, I have a 50 pound golden retreiver that broke this in half within 10 minutes of chewing on it. Although he did seem to enjoy it before it broke.

Much to my surprise, my small poodle loves this thing. She normally only cares for flavored chews so the fact that she likes this bone says a lot. I constantly expected her to chew pieces off of it, but it has lasted well over a year of occasional chewing.

I can see larger dogs or those with strong jaws to chew pieces of this off, so base purchasing this off what you know of your dogs with previous treats. For smaller dogs, however, this is highly recommended.

My dog really likes the Nylabone (Blue) Dental Chew. I've never experienced a problem with her use of it in all the years I've been getting it for her. The nubs on the surface of this chew toy massage the gums and the salivation promoted by it helps clean the teeth.

As with all dog chew toys, you should periodically check to see how your dog is doing with it. Any chew toy fragment swallowed (no matter what type of chew it may be) can suddenly become stuck in the throat or intestinal tract.

(I did not give it 5 stars because it's not made from a natural material.)

However, I am very disappointed in the price tag from Amazon: as of this review, the regular size (4-1/2") is sold for $5.49, but you can get it through Drs. Foster & Smith Pet Supplies for $2.99 -I discovered this AFTER I'd placed my Amazon order. Amazon and its merchants know they can sell it for less and should be competitive with their prices.
