The kongs are also good for my food aggressive dog since it keeps her busy so she doesn't bother herself with what the other dogs are doing.
I also think it cuts down on the gas that comes with the gulping of food, but that isn't a proven thing.
Kongs are made in the USA which makes me feel better about feeding my dogs out of them. I'm not fearing strange toxic chemicals in the make up of them.
Things that I don't like is that they can sometimes feel a little tacky to the touch even though I don't put them in the dishwasher. Also the white yellows over a short time. But they are getting daily use.
I've had two dogs that wouldn't use them. One was a low/no vision elderly dog who just didn't get it. She's also toothless so just eating out of a regular bowl is challenge enough.
The other who wouldn't bother with them was just not food motivated at all. She could take it or leave it and if it got hard to get to she'd leave it
But the other dogs seem to enjoy using them.
Oh a great thing about the Senior type is that it's easier for people to get the food out of them. The red ones are REALLY hard, these if a dog gets stuck or is just learning how to work them, you can step on it and squeeze out some food and they get the idea. Love the fact that they are softer, but they are not soft, just softer than the hard red ones. If your dogs are chewers this may be a problem but most of my dogs don't have all their teeth and none of them are chewers so it works for me.
Good products by kong although now many companies now make puzzle feeders/distraction toys and it's good to switch them out once in a while to engage your pup but kongs have been around for a while because they work, they aren't fancy but they are sturdy. And compared to some others, they are easy to fill and not frustrating or too difficult for a dog to get at the food.
Kong = Good!My dog has literally one canine tooth. She's really old & most of her teeth were removed when she was rescued. That said, she loves to chew & this one fit the bill. On hot days, we fill it with peanut butter, freeze it & she just GOES TO TOWN working on this. The kong is much softer/smaller (about 4" long) than the other type...so it is perfect for the elderly or very young :) An aggressive chewing pup would have this in pieces in about 3 days....Min Pin loves it with peanut butter. It's a Kong and it's just over two inches long and an inch and a half wide. Perfect for peanut butter because it doesn't get stuck in the back beyond the reach of my dog's tongue.
