My kitten likes to lie on the floor and stick his arms through the holes to get the mouse. Even if the mouse is completely on the other side, odds are his flailing will bump the swing arm and bring it around. He plays with this thing for hours.
There is a scratch pad on the top, but I've never seen my cat use it. The package says it's sisal, but it looks more like berber carpet to me. My kitten doesn't care, he's more interested in getting the mouse. My cat has had this since he was about 3 months old, he's almost 3 years old now. He's loved it from the day we bought it for him. Somehow it keeps them so entertained, watching the mouse spin around. He loves to pounce on it and punch the mouse so much the fur has nearly worn off the entire mouse!
We once took in a stray kitten before he was adopted, and he too loved this toy. He played with it all day and night!
One of the best cat toys I have purchased!

Our kitty does not play with this all the time, but if we throw it out in the middle of the floor, he will swat at it for a few minutes. It's an enjoyable diversion for him, swatting and playing. He's not obsessed, but we're not sad we bought this. It's a worth addition to our cat-entertainment arsenal.Read Best Reviews of Cat 'N' Mouse Cat Powered Cat Toy Colors may vary Here
Let me tell you about Bad Jerome (my "tuxedo" cat). He is very smart (aren't they all?) and aggressively playful. Over the last year I have bought him a slew of expensive toys, all of which he has managed to tip over, pull apart, or break in some fashion. He is very active and playful, and doesn't so much play with toys as defeat them (or show no interest at all beyond a disdainful sniff, showing me that my recent purchase is far beneath his talents). But I got this toy, and he loves, loves, loves it. He plays with it for a solid 15 minutes or so, uses the scratch pad on top, and then leaves it alone for a stretch. Eventually he will go back to it and repeat the process.
This is a great toy for that hard to please feline in your life (and it's cheap, too)! Bad Jerome is playing with it right now! --Mykal Banta

I've purchased the Bergan Turbo Scratcher Cat Toy and that Petmate Crazy Circle Interactive Cat Toy before this, and this one is by far the best. The Turbo is more attractive for sharpening claws then this one, but the little mouse and how sensitive it is to move to the touch makes this one by far the winner. I have one cat that is playful and young that likes to play by trying to retrieve his mice toys after putting them under low surfaces. So I bought this more for him and he was thrilled with it. What I wasn't expecting was this toy to get the attention of my other pets too, I have a large old cat that is also fascinated by this. I even caught my large dog trying to play with this one and catch the mouse.
