I already have Emery Cat scratchers, which my cats love and use all the time. But my most recent rescue cat also likes to stretch *UP* while scratching...as in scratching the furniture. Oh no!! Definitely cannot have that. So I ordered this item and hoped its tall height would satisfy his preference for standing on his hind legs while stretching upward to scratch. It worked! All the cats love it, and in the two days since it arrived my newest cat has completely stopped attempting to scratch the furniture. I placed this scratching post right next to the oversized chair he had been targeting, rubbed some catnip on it, and next thing I knew he was happily scratching the post, not the chair.
It actually serves double, or even triple duty. For one thing, its base also provides an area the cats like to scratch. Also, I tried laying it on its side, which created a sloping angle and the cats liked that, too. I ended up with it back in its upright position next to the chair, as that seems the best choice for my "oh I'd like to scratch that furniture!" cat. :)
It's certainly taller than other scratching posts I've seen, but I wish it were even taller. My new boy is BIG and could easily use another foot (or more) height on this post when he stretches.
Oh...the toy that came attached to it? In less than 5 minutes--as documented by photos I was taking as my cats started checking out the new scratching post--its string broke and the toy was on the floor. Oh well, I didn't buy this post for its toy, so I really don't care, but lasting more than 5 minutes would've been nice anyway.

I don't usually take the time to review purchases here, and rarely to say anything good. But I had to say this item really worked for us. I don't know if that's a guarantee it will work for everyone, but I cat stopped scratching everything else in the house and concentrates on this post and loves the attached mouse toy. Kinda brilliant putting it there. I also thought at first she would knock it over, but never...sometime she moves it but a simple push and its back in place. Well there you have it. I bought something that brought some joy to us and our cat, solved a problem and hasn't broken or been misrepresented. If only all mail order purchases turned out this well!Want Meow Town Sisal Scratch N' Stow Scratching Cat Post, Natural Discount?
both my cats love this scratcher. it took a few days for them to notice it, but now they're addicted! one plays with the attached toy, the other doesn't. the scratcher tilts rather easily so i placed the back half of the base board under the couch wso that it can only tilt so far
