We bought this carrier to hold our 3 female rats. It works well. It IS hard to open. You certainly need to use two hands to open it. But it's tough and fits our rats well while we clean their cage.

I bought this to put my "piggie" into for short travel and it is the perfect size (he is about 3 lbs). It came SUPER quick, within 4 days with regular free shipping. I took away one star because the lid is sort of cheap. Doesn't really close super tight but honestly for my use it does not matter, he could never climb out anyway. If you do have an amimal that might try to, such as a ferrit, this may not be the carrier for you. Otherwise, it is just fine. I have 2 class guinea pigs that I tote home for weekends and breaks. I had a different carrier I was using for this but the piggies ate through it. I found this one and have been very pleased!!! It's chew proof! Each piggy has their own carrier that has been personalized with their name. I put fleece in the bottom for comfort and warmth for winter travel. Both pigs can move around a bit and fit nicely. The lid is a little difficult to close but once you get the hang of the closure it's ok. Hence the 4 stars.
